You can’t go wrong with the Yarra Valley. It’s only a short drive from Melbourne and offers a wide range of wineries to choose from. Chateau Yering is one of the oldest and most established wineries in the valley, and their wines are consistently good.
They have a great restaurant, an art gallery, cellar door tastings and even free tours. If you’re looking for something a little more casual, head to Woodmans Wines where you can buy wine by the bottle or glass at their cellar door.
There’s plenty of picnic tables outside if you want to bring your own food and enjoy it in the sunshine. If you’re after something more traditional, visit Dixons Creek Winery which produces traditional French style wines made by hand using traditional methods.
For white wines try Vasse Felix or Langham Estate Wines which both produce excellent chardonnay wines with lots of flavour. If red’s more your thing then try Rosemount Estate Winery which has multiple award winning shiraz as well as cabernet sauvignon and merlot!

Kallista Estate is a boutique winery located in the Yarra Valley which produces amazing reds and whites. You can enjoy your wine with a meal in their cafe or picnic on their lawns overlooking the vines.
Rockingham Estate is one of Victoria’s oldest and most prestigious wineries, it has been family owned since 1852!
They have several restaurants on site serving modern Australian cuisine and award winning wines including sparkling wines, chardonnays and viogniers as well as award winning pinot noirs!

Yering farm wines
Yering Station, in the Yarra Valley, is owned and run by the Murray family. The property has been in their family since the 1850s and was established as an orchard in 1858 by John Murray.

The current owners, the McGrath Family, purchased Yering Station in 2002 and have since made significant investments in both vineyard and cellar door facilities to ensure that visitors can enjoy an exceptional experience at this beautiful location.

Tokar estate
Tokar Estate is located in Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia and is one of the finest wineries in the area. The winery was established in 1998 and produces premium quality wines from their property which is situated on a gentle hillside facing east with views to Mt. Tassie,
Tokar Estate was originally planted in 1998 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines. After purchasing the property, two additional blocks were planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. In 2005 Tokar Estate began making wine under their own label and by 2007 they had released their first vintage of Tokar Estate Shiraz.
Today the vineyard consists of approximately 80 acres (32 hectares) planted with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Pinot Noir grapes.
Their wines are made using sustainable practices including organic farming methods where possible, as well as environmentally friendly viticulture practices such as drip irrigation for water use efficiency.
Tokar Estate is located on the eastern side of the Yarra Valley, and is a winery that specializes in premium wines.
It was established by Dr. Edward Tokar in 1986, and has since gained international recognition for its fine wine production, as well as its award-winning wines.
The winery produces a variety of wines, including sparkling wines and dessert wines. The sparkling wines are made from Chardonnay grapes, while the dessert wines are made from Riesling grapes.
The estate also produces some very high quality fortified port styles: Tokar Vintage Port, Tokar Reserve Port, Tokar Tawny Port, Tokar Ruby Port and Tokar Late Bottled Vintage Port. These ports are aged in oak barrels for up to 20 years before they are bottled.

Oakridge wines
The Oakridge winery is one of the oldest and most respected vineyards in the Yarra Valley. Part of the wine region just outside Melbourne, Australia, it has been producing award-winning wines since 1884.
Oakridge’s story began when a Scottish immigrant named William McPherson planted his first vines on the property in 1884. Today the estate covers some 5,000 acres (2,000 hectares) of land and includes three sub-regions: Higher Ground, Middle Ground and Lower Ground.
In 1987, Ken Taylor took over as head winemaker at Oakridge. He had previously worked at Penfold’s and Yalumba before being appointed as chief winemaker at Beringer Vineyards in California where he worked for 13 years before returning to Australia to lead Oakridge’s efforts.
In 2004, Taylor was awarded a Medal of Honour by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) for his service to viticulture in Australia.
The Oakridge wine region is located in the Yarra Valley, some 70km northeast of Melbourne, Australia. This area is one of the oldest wine producing regions in Victoria and has been growing grapes since 1832.
The vineyards are situated over a wide range of altitudes to minimise risk from frost and other adverse weather conditions. As such, there are more than twenty wineries in this area producing award winning wines.
The region has experienced a renaissance in recent years with many new vineyards being established on what was previously prime grazing land. Today, you can explore these vineyards by taking a guided tour or tasting at any of the local wineries.

Domaine chandon
The Domaine Chandon Winery is located in the Yarra Valley region of Victoria, Australia. The vineyard was first planted in 1979 and produces over 1 million cases of wine per year.
Domaine Chandon’s history dates back to 1785, when Pierre-Antoine Chandon de Briailles purchased a vineyard near Beaune, France. In 1832, the family established their first Champagne house and began producing sparkling wines for sale throughout France.
In 1855, the family moved to Reims and continued making Champagne until 1880 when the last member of the family died without an heir.
In 1973, Domaine Chandon de Briailles was revived by Pierre-Antoine’s great grandson Gaston Chandon de Briailles and his wife Corinne Chandon de Briailles (née Falcoz).
The couple set out to revive their ancestor’s legacy by creating a modern wine business based upon traditional methods and values while honoring their heritage through innovation and commitment to quality.
The Domaine Chandon Winery was founded in 1979 by Monsieur Gaston Chandon de Briailles and his wife Corinne Falcoz Chandon de Briailles (née Falcoz).
It was initially established on 30 hectares (75 acres) of land in the Napa Valley in California, United States. The winery produces both sparkling and still wines for the global market.
The Domaine Chandon Winery is credited with being one of the pioneers of establishing premium sparkling wine production in Australia.
In 1985, Domaine Chandon purchased a vineyard property in the Yarra Valley. This is where we currently produce our award-winning sparkling wines under the Chandon label.

Coldstream hills cellar door
Coldstream Hills Cellar Door is a family owned and operated wine producer located in Coldstream Hills, Victoria. The vineyard originally started as a hobby for the owners but quickly became a passion.
Their unique range of wines are made from grapes grown on-site and feature classic European varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.
The vineyards are situated on the Northern slopes of the Yarra Valley and sit at 300m above sea level. The cool climate conditions make it ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
These two varietals are blended together to create their flagship wines – Coldstream Hills Grey Ghost Chardonnay (2013) and Coldstream Hills Grey Ghost Pinot Noir (2012).
Both these wines have been awarded Silver Medals at the Royal Hobart Wine Show, 2013 & 2014 respectively which is an impressive achievement considering how young they are!
In addition to their range of single varietal wines, they also produce a unique Rosé which is made from Pinot Gris grapes grown on site at Coldstream Hills Cellar Door. This varietal has never been used before in Rosé production so it is truly unique & innovative!

Badger’s brook winery
Located on a hilltop, Badger’s Brook Winery is an impressive boutique winery that boasts panoramic views of the surrounding Yarra Valley. The family owned and operated winery, established in 1995, was named after the creek that runs through the property.
The original settlers of this land were Scottish immigrants who brought with them sheep and cattle. They then built their homes along the banks of Badger’s Brook where they would have water access.

Balgownie estate vineyard
Balgownie estate vineyard is situated in the Yarra Valley, Australia. The owners of this property have been making wine since the early 1900s. In addition to producing exceptional wines, Balgownie Estate also offers a range of accommodation options for those who wish to spend time in this beautiful area.
Balgownie Estate has two main wineries: Balgownie and Balgownie Estate Vineyard. Both are located on the same property with extensive views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
The winemakers at Balgownie Estate Vineyard are dedicated to producing quality wines from some of Australia’s finest grapes.
Balgownie Estate Vineyard was established in 1894 by a Scottish immigrant named James Crabbie who planted his first vines here in 1912 after moving from Tasmania where he had worked as a miner at Mount William Gold Mine.
He had been trained in viticulture at Geelong College and brought his knowledge with him when he settled down at Yarra Valley where he began experimenting with different grape varieties.
In the 1940s, the Balgownie Winery was bought by John and Pat Farrer who continued to produce wine under the Balgownie name. In 1962, they purchased land next door and planted more vines.
In 2013, they were awarded an Order of Australia Medal for their contribution to the Australian wine industry.
The current owners, Gary and Sue Brown took over in 2007 and have since continued to build on this success story by producing award-winning wines from some of Australia’s most prestigious vineyards such as:
