Things to do in island tobacco, Tobacco Caye, located 12 miles off the coast of Dangriga, will captivate you from the minute you arrive. The little island is surrounded by pure seas and looks to rise from pink Conch shells.

Tobacco Caye is a little island paradise in Belize that provides independent-minded tourists an unique chance to experience a beautiful island paradise on a budget.

Southern Belize’s Tobacco Caye is off-the-beaten-path, off-the-beaten-path, and definitively off-the-beaten-path remote, restful, and, of course, wonderfully magnificent.

Tobacco Caye is just 10 miles from Dangriga’s shoreline, yet it seems like it’s in another world.

There’s an unmatched feeling of remoteness here in Belize, which means more time to concentrate on the essential things in life like hammock time, sundowners, diving beautiful coral reefs, and getting in touch with nature’s rhythm.

It’s good to get down to basics, but you may be wondering whether a vacation to this little island, far far from the cruise ships and enormous ruins that characterize Belizean tourism, is really worth it.

Why should you go to Tobacco Caye?

Belize is a peninsula, not an island. Many people, though, tend to associate Belize with lovely islands surrounded by crystal-clear Caribbean seas.

We’re not talking about huge island villages like Go-Slow Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye, which attract retirees, but rather the little secluded islands that appear in glossy vacation magazines and travel agency offices.

While Belize has hundreds of beautiful Caribbean keys only a short distance offshore, just a handful have been developed. Even fewer provide tourists with overnight accommodations.

St. George’s Caye, Thatch Caye, and Cayo Espanto, among the most well-known island resorts off the coast of Belize, provide premium accommodations with a price tag to match.

However, if you dig a bit further, you’ll find hidden offshore jewels that provide a low-key, no-fuss escape surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Tobacco Caye may be the greatest example of this in Belize.

Tobacco Caye is a great place to visit if you want a laid-back Belizean experience; nice, down-to-earth folks who aren’t obligated to serve you; and a wonderful position right on the Belize Barrier Reef.

For the variety and color of life that thrives in its waters; for the endless possibilities to disengage, unwind, and appreciate the simple things.

With that in mind, if you’re looking for a five-star resort with a pool and spa that serves chef-prepared meals, we’d suggest passing on Tobacco Caye.

On Tobacco Caye, where should you stay?

The number of hotels and resorts on Tobacco Caye seems to fluctuate throughout time.

The forces of nature (hurricanes are not uncommon in this area) and the ever-changing preferences of visitors and travelers to Belize are primarily to blame.

Tobacco Caye, on the other hand, looks to have undergone a rebirth in recent years, with several of the island’s long-standing properties receiving considerable repairs and restorations, as well as some new faces infusing fresh life into the island’s hospitality.
