Fast growing cities in the world, the dallas-Fort Worth area has long been known as the fastest growing city in the U.S., thanks in large part to the advent of U.S. Highway 75 and Interstate 35.

Though these two highways have brought in much of the growth, that growth has also brought problems. Roads that were just wide enough to fit cars have expanded to accommodate cars and trucks of all shapes and sizes.

City parks that were just a few acres are now acres and acres. Streets once dotted with single family homes are now packed with shops, apartments, and sprawling parking lots.

If the name Fort Worth sounds familiar to you, it might be because that’s where The Walt Disney Company has its headquarters and is home to Disney’s College of Creative Arts.

As in many parts of the U.S., the city is growing, but unlike many areas of the country, it is growing more quickly than most.

Overall Growth (Population)

Overall growth in population is shown by a large area called the Total Population Map. Cities that are growing fast are shown in bright color.

As shown below, although the population of the world is growing faster than ever before, much of that growth is happening in the developing world, especially the emerging economies of China, India, and Brazil.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the world’s population has grown by more than 45 percent since 1960.

Since it is becoming harder and harder for countries to grow their economies, these fast growing cities will likely continue to be a key part of the emerging world.

The Population Growth Map

As seen in the above population growth map, the fastest growing cities in the world will be a major driver of the future economic growth of our planet.

As seen in the graphic above, of the 10 fastest growing cities in America, 9 are in the United States. In fact, of all the large cities in the U.S., 7 are in fast growing states, and 3 of those are in Florida.

This fast growing trend is due to the fact that the fast growing cities in the U.S. are most often located in highly populated metropolitan areas, which are growing faster than the nation as a whole.

As more and more people move into cities, the cities themselves grow. As people move into cities, housing becomes more affordable, and opportunities become greater.

Cities grow faster, allowing the economy and opportunities to grow faster, which draws even more people in and increases the pace of growth.

This exponential growth creates opportunities and places many people within reach of the world’s most fast growing cities.

According to City Metric, over 600,000 new residents will move to the fast growing cities of America over the next 5 years, while 500,000 of the world’s fast growing cities will have new residents by 2020.

This creates the opportunity for tens of millions of people to move to fast growing cities, creating a growth pipeline that will lead to even faster growth in the coming years.

*Note: There is one city on this list that has been marked as changing by one single digit: Charlotte, NC. This was due to a data error on citywide population, which City Metric has now corrected.
